Our High Efficiency Carrier Furnaces

We provide a selection of Carrier furnaces from all 3 lines: Infinity, Performance, and Comfort. You can compare all our models in the charts below. For explanations and definitions of technical terms, please see the section at the bottom of the page.

Infinity Series Furnaces

The Carrier line offers the durable essentials that our basic models have, but are optimized for maximum energy efficiency and home comfort control. If you want air quality improvement equipment like humidifiers and air cleaners, these furnaces will help you get the best use out of them. The furnaces in this line may cost a bit more, but you get more benefits and a better indoor environment.

All of the Infinity models have these advantages:

  • Advanced Soundproofing including a fully insulated cabinet and QuieTech design advances.
  • Infinity Control compatible. The Infinity control gives precise control and optimizes settings for best energy use and even temperatures.
  • Multi-stage gas burner for even temperature control.
  • Variable speed blower for even airflow and best use of humidifiers and air purifiers.
  • Durable 20-gauge steel construction.

Keep in mind that “the best” furnace may not necessarily be the right furnace for your home. It’s best to get advice from the experts at Husky. While you’re at it, ask us if the furnace you’re interested in qualifies for a rebate. If so, we’ll make sure all the paperwork gets filed correctly.

Terms Used in the Charts Above

If you don’t know all about the terms we’ve been using, here are some explanations.

AFUE – Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency

With AFUE, the higher the number, the more efficient the furnace, and the more you’ll save on your monthly energy bills.

AFUE means the percentage of fuel that gets converted into heat your house can use. Another way of looking at it is how much fuel gets wasted – for example, a furnace with an AFUE of 80% wastes 20% of its fuel.

Because Toronto winters can get cold and fuel prices are not expected to drop, Husky recommends getting a furnace with an AFUE of over 90%.

Gas Burner Stages

The burner of your furnace is where fuel and air are combined with the pilot light to create the flame. It’s the source of the heat in your furnace. In terms of efficiency, the best kind is a variable stage, followed by a two-stage, with single stage burners being the least efficient.

Here’s a high-level view of how they work and why variable stage burners are the most efficient:

  • Single stage burners can only be on or off. While it is burning, the maximum amount of fuel is being consumed, and your furnace generates its full amount of heat. When your thermostat tells the burner that the correct temperature has been reached, it shuts off. This works to heat your home, but it isn’t as efficient.
  • Two-stage burners have two heat setting, lower and higher power. Most Carrier furnaces are designed to operate in the more efficient lower stage most of the time.
  • A variable stage burner can expend much lower amounts of fuel to keep your home at the right temperature. You also will notice the nice, even temperature in your home as well. If there’s ever a really drastic temperature drop, your furnace can work at a higher power setting to keep your house warm. Variable stage burners can also be called “modulating”.

When it comes to heating your home, it is both more efficient and more comfortable to maintain a more even temperature.

Blower Speed

It’s not enough to make heat in your furnace, you need a fan to blow it through your ductwork so you can enjoy it in any room of your home. That’s what the blower motor is for.

You can get different speed types of blower motor: single or variable. Variable speed blowers come in different ranges, but the more speeds the better. This is because lower speeds are more efficient, even when you use them constantly. It also means you get more even air circulation throughout your home.

If you want better air quality in your home and plan to install a humidifier, air filtration system, and/or ventilator then a variable speed blower motor is important. Continuous air circulation provided by a variable blower will help you enjoy the benefits of your better air consistently.
