Water leakage from an AC unit typically indicates a clogged or damaged condensate drain line. When the condensate drain line is blocked, water accumulates in the AC unit and may overflow, causing leaks.
Refrigerant leaks can occur due to damaged or corroded refrigerant lines, fittings, or coils. When refrigerant levels are low, the AC system cannot effectively absorb heat from the indoor air, leading to decreased cooling performance and possibly even blowing warm air.
Several factors can cause an AC unit not to turn on, including electrical issues such as a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, a faulty thermostat, or a malfunctioning compressor. Lack of power supply or a malfunctioning capacitor can also prevent the AC from turning on.
Dirty condenser coils can impair the heat exchange process in the outdoor unit of the AC system. Accumulated dirt, debris, or grime on the condenser coils restrict airflow and hinder heat dissipation, so your AC isn’t providing adequate cooling.
Clogged air filters restrict airflow and cause the AC system to work harder to maintain the desired indoor temperature. This increased workload can lead to reduced cooling capacity, higher energy consumption, and potential system malfunctions or failures if left unaddressed.

Choosing the right air conditioner starts with understanding efficiency.
Modern units are rated using SEER2 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2), which measures cooling output against energy consumed under real-world conditions. The higher the SEER2 rating, the lower your electricity bills.
Under Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations, the national minimum for new central air conditioner installations is 13.4 SEER2, but most GTA homeowners see meaningful energy savings by stepping up to the 16 to 22 SEER2 range.
As a Dave Lennox Premier Dealer and Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Husky carries the full range from both manufacturers. For both brands, we’ve provided the top model for each series below.

Lennox Air Conditioners lead the industry in efficiency, with the broadest SEER2 range among major manufacturers.
Lennox’s top line, with SEER2 ratings ranging from 19.2 to 25.8. The models in this tier feature SilentComfort technology, ENERGY STAR certification, and a 10-year limited warranty on the compressor and covered components. Best for homeowners who want the lowest operating costs and premium comfort.
SL28XCV Air Conditioner
Models range from approximately 15.3 to 22.4 SEER2, with two-stage and variable-speed options available, offering a strong balance between upfront investment and long-term energy savings.
All Elite models include a 10-year limited warranty on compressors and a 5-year limited warranty on covered components, with a 10-year extended limited warranty available through product registration.
EL23XCV Air Conditioner
Dependable single-stage units that meet or exceed current minimum efficiency requirements, delivering reliable cooling at the most budget-friendly price point.
All Merit models include a 5-year limited warranty on compressors and covered components, with a 10-year extended limited warranty available through product registration.
ML18XC2 Air Conditioner

Carrier developed modern air conditioning in 1902, and the engineering of Carrier Air Conditioners remains among the most trusted in the industry today.
Carrier’s top line, with SEER2 ratings up to 24 across variable-speed models. The Infinity series integrates with Infinity furnaces, air filtration systems, and controls for a complete home comfort system.
All Infinity models feature WeatherArmor protection, Silencer System II for quiet operation, and Puron refrigerant. Includes a 10-year parts limited warranty upon timely registration.
Infinity® 26 Air Conditioner with Greenspeed® Intelligence (24VNA6)
SEER2 ratings of up to 17, with two-stage and single-stage options that deliver excellent energy efficiency at a more accessible price.

Husky believes in providing excellent air conditioner installation services for the best possible price. It’s important to remember that you’ll need a professional to help you select the right air conditioner. The most powerful one on the market won’t necessarily be the best for your home – ACs need to match the home size they’re designed for so they don’t overwork and develop problems.
Ready for a new central air conditioner? We carry a full lineup of Lennox and Carrier systems in every efficiency tier, from dependable entry-level units to premium variable-speed models. Our team will size the right system for your home, walk you through your options, and handle the entire installation.
No ductwork? No problem. Ductless mini-splits from Carrier, Lennox, and Mitsubishi are ideal for additions, converted garages, condos, or older homes without existing ducts. They provide targeted cooling (and heating) room by room, with whisper-quiet operation.
When Hilary & Davids’s team needed HVAC advice and work, they turned to the friendly experts at Husky.

“Jenissie and Clifford arrive on time and completed the installation in 2:30 hours. They were professional and courteous. They used drop sheets to protect our carpets and cleaned up the work site upon completion. They fully explained what they were going to do and explained the operation of the new HVAC unit when they were finished. 100% satisfied with price and service fom Husky. Will contact Husky the next time we need any maintenance or heating or air conditioning products”

Rebates of up to $7,500 are available depending on system size and whether you bundle additional upgrades. No pre-retrofit energy audit is required for a standalone heat pump installation.

The total installed cost of a new central air conditioner in the GTA typically ranges from about $3,500 to $10,000 or more, depending on the brand, model, efficiency rating, system size (tonnage), and the complexity of your installation. Factors such as whether your home needs ductwork modifications, electrical upgrades, or a new thermostat can also affect the final price. The best way to get an accurate number is to book a free in-home consultation, where we assess your home and provide a detailed quote with no hidden charges.
For most Ontario homes, a SEER2 rating of 16 or higher offers a solid balance between upfront cost and long-term energy savings. Systems in the 16 to 20 SEER2 range are the most popular choice among GTA homeowners. Stepping up to a higher-efficiency variable-speed model (20+ SEER2) can reduce cooling energy use by 30% to 40% compared to an older unit and provides noticeably better humidity control during our muggy summers.
A standard central air conditioner installation, where compatible ductwork and electrical service are already in place, is typically completed in one day (roughly four to eight hours). If the project requires ductwork modifications, a new condenser pad, or electrical upgrades, it may take a second day. We will provide a clear timeline during your free in-home consultation, so you know exactly what to expect.
The average central air conditioner lasts 12 to 17 years. If your unit is 15 years old and experiencing frequent breakdowns, rising energy bills, or declining cooling performance, replacement is usually the more cost-effective choice. That said, if the issue is straightforward, an air conditioning repair can still make sense. Our technicians will inspect your unit, explain your options honestly, and help you compare the cost of repair against the long-term value of a new system.
Our team of certified technicians will be there for your air conditioners maintenance or repair- we are the experts on ac repair in Toronto, Richmond Hill, East York and anywhere in the GTA. We will be happy to help prevent any emergency ac repairs as well as be there if your unit does break down in the middle of a heatwave.
